AsiaIRP, the trade association for Asia-based independent research providers, is organizing an investor-oriented conference comprised exclusively of independent research providers. The conference highlights the vibrancy of Asian independent research, reflected in the recent growth of AsiaIRP.
The conference, titled “Asia’s Independent Research Summit” is a one-day event scheduled October 24th in Hong Kong. The agenda looks strong: panel sessions moderated by journalists from The Independent and FinanceAsia.com, followed by workshop sessions on topics such as real estate investing, banks and maritime investments. Details on the conference can be found at http://www.airs-hk.com/home.
The conference looks like a coming out party for AsiaIRP. When we first noted the organization, AsiaIRP was a start-up with only six members. In the nearly three years since its founding in November 2010, it has more than doubled, adding nine members as well as partnering brokers. Quite an accomplishment in the challenging research environment over the last few years.
One of the founders, Edward Stockreisser, has joined AsiaIRP as its full-time Chairman, leaving his previous post as Head of Asia Pacific for Lombard Street Research. Stockreisser has energized the organization. The growth of AsiaIRP also reflects growth in the independent research segment in Asia despite an adverse environment of declining commissions.
We wish AsiaIRP well in its inaugural conference, which will hopefully become an annual affair.
