Hodgkin’s latest venture comes in the wake of selling a number of Cogent’s most popular products to BNY ConvergEx in 2009. Hodgkins remained with the firm after the sale to assist in the transition.
Castine’s initial products include the Saragasso Commission Invoicing System for non-standard trades in products like options and futures; The Commissioner Trader Profitability System to help firms manage trader compensation; The Controller Client Profitability System to help firms determine the profitability of each of their clients; and the Calypso Research Portal which is a broker-provided and permissioned catalog of proprietary and third-party research that their clients can access.

Formerly Cogent Consulting LLC, the company has been renamed as Castine Consulting after it recently sold several of its products to BNY ConvergEx, a privately-held brokerage and technology firm.
After assisting with the transition, Mr. Hodgkins has returned to his original firm to launch several new mobile and desktop web-based products, using cutting-edge technologies to bring multi-platform, location-independent applications to the FinTech market.

Originally formed in 1982 by Robin Hodgkins, Castine and its predecessors have operated as the market leader in every industry in which they have worked. The firm recently sold its industry leading commission management product suite to BNY ConvergEx. The company has now been renamed as Castine Consulting.
Prior to working in the finance arena, Castine (under the “Cogent” name) was the #1 provider of multi-partner oil, gas, and extraction solutions to the international exploration community. Its client base included every major oil and gas company, and many of the largest mining firms, with over 2,000 installations in 60+ countries. The oil and gas business was spun off in 1997.
