London Independent Research Conference Scheduled For March

0

The third annual Global Independent Research Conference, which showcases the current market views of independent research providers, will take place in London on March 9, 2017.  Organizer Research For Investors anticipates that the majority of participants will be from the buy-side.

As in past years, the conference keys on macroeconomic and asset allocation topics, drawing on the rich infrastructure of independent macro research and investment strategy firms.  This year Charles Gave and Pierre Gave of Gavekal Research will be speakers, along with representatives from Absolute Strategy Research, Lombard Street Research, Trusted Sources, among others.

This year the conference also adds equities panels, including discussions of short ideas and specific equity sectors such as energy and healthcare.  The full agenda can be viewed here.

Organizer Gael Tissier, who previously worked for BCA Research and Lombard Street Research, expects an increase in buy-side participation from 200 buy-side registrants last year to closer to 300 this year.  Registration fees are only £150 for buy-side attendees, and £1,200 for other attendees.  Registration can be found here.

Our Take

In the past, trade associations for independent research providers such as Investorside have organized events to highlight investment ideas from independents.  The forthcoming research payment reforms in MiFID II have increased interest in independent research among European investors, making the conference viable for organizer Research For Investors.
