London Conference Will Showcase Independents

Following the success of its initial conference last year, Research for Investors is holding its Second Global Independent Research Conference on March 16th in London. Buy side interest in independent research has increased in anticipation of research payment reform in MiFID II regulations.

The agenda includes panel discussions and presentations from over 30 independent research providers. The keynote speech on investment research in MiFID II delivered by the head of the Markets Policy Department at the Financial Conduct Authority should be especially interesting.

The conference includes breakfast, two coffee breaks, a lunch and a cocktail reception offering ample opportunities to network.

Our Take

As we outlined in our series of notes from a recent London visit, the buy side in London is anticipating significant changes to the research landscape in the wake of MiFID II. Investors expect greater use of independent research and increased proliferation in independent providers. The Research for Investors conference is becoming a popular venue for showcasing independents in a format that the buy side values highly.
