Bank of America Merrill Lynch has named Michael Jalonen as head of Canadian stock research after former head, Glen Campbell, left the firm to join startup wireless player, Wind Mobile Corp.
Besides taking on the new position as head of Canadian stock research, Mr. Jalonen will continue his former role as global coordinator of metals and mining coverage at BAML. Mr. Jalonen will continue to be based in Toronto and will report to the head of Americas equity research, Brett Hodess.
Jalonen replaces 19 year veteran telecom stock analyst, Glen Campbell, who resigned from BAML last week to join startup Canadian wireless provider, Wind Mobile, as Chief Commercial Officer. Campbell will head Wind’s sales and distribution, marketing, brand and communication, and customer care operations, reporting directly to the wireless provider’s CEO, Alek Krstajic.
Mr. Campbell’s departure also prompted BAML to assign Christopher Li, Merrill Lynch’s Canadian consumer and retail-stocks analyst, coverage of the Canadian telecom services sector as well.
