New York – It’s that time of year again for the Investorside Member’s Day conference. The conference is on February 3, 2011, will be held at the Metropolitan Club in Washington, D.C., and will run from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The will be held in Washington because of the extremely poignant regulatory issues the industry is dealing with. The agenda features a review and then a panel discussing the outlook for independent research in the morning session, with the panel by moderated by Michael Mayhew of Integrity Research Associates. The research area most affected by the insider trading probe is and will be the primary research space, particularly those in the expert network space.
Following the research outlook will be as regulatory outlook panel moderated by Jonathan Boersma for the CFA Institute.
The afternoon session will feature a panel on Investorside regulatory initiatives, moderated by Will Edick of Picard & Djinis, as well as a panel on research industry consolidation and financing, moderated by Rich Leggett of BIA Advisors.
In addition, the annual research awards will be presented to the winning research providers, and Investorside membership services will be detailed by Pat Shea and Lisa Russo.
As a whole the conference is designed to help the alternative research providers to determine their potential exposure to any new practices instituted at money managers, review and discuss the likelihood of the new rules and regulations, coordinate a message to regulators from the Investorside independent research community, and to provide guidance as to the things that the research providers can do to limit the economic damage from the current regulatory environment.
