New York, NY – ConvergEx recently announced a new product which allows its sales trading clients access to senior executives at public companies. Carey Pack, CEO of ConvergEx Execution Solutions, believes that the service will have “access to an extensive network of senior corporate management teams.” The service will only be available to a select group of clients and will be carried out in the form of Q&A sessions.
Back in June of last year, Integrity also wrote about Liquidnet taking a similar course and partnering with NYSE Euronext to link corporate issuers and institutional investors. Corporate access is a valuable service, and one that has lower entry costs than conventional fundamental research. For execution providers such as Convergex and Liquidnet, corporate access is a relatively low-cost avenue to begin expansion into research/advisory services. Integrity also has a few independent providers of this service in its database, including Hanley & Associates which has been around since 2006.
ConvergEx has been in the news a fair amount recently after agreeing to buy Cogent Consulting on October 8th, NYFIX’s U.S. Transaction Services (including Millennium) on Nov. 9th and NorthPoint Trading Partners on Nov. 23rd. When all these moves are put together, it is pretty clear that ConvergEx is really focusing on expanding their business. Whether the moves pan out or not still remains to be seen. The press release for the new service is below:
NEW YORK, Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ — ConvergEx Group, a leading provider of investment and execution technology solutions to institutional clients worldwide, today announced that it has launched a Management Access program designed to offer sales trading clients direct access to the senior executives of public corporations. As a new component of the firm’s research offering, the Management Access service gives ConvergEx clients the opportunity to engage with corporate leaders in intimate, knowledge-sharing sessions designed to provide insight and investment ideas for developing their strategies.
“Drawing on the breadth of our worldwide resources, ConvergEx has access to an extensive network of senior corporate management teams from sought-after public companies across all market capitalizations and industries,” said Carey S. Pack, chief executive officer of ConvergEx Execution Solutions. “Making our global contacts more available to our sales trading clients is an important value-added service and one that complements the expansive scope of our independent research network.”
Each Management Access meeting is limited to a select audience and includes lengthy Q&A sessions designed to encourage dialogue and promote clarity in to the company’s initiatives and strategic objectives.
“Regular access to C- level executives is a critical part of the investment process,” said John Fitzgerald, senior vice president and head of the Management Access service at ConvergEx Group. “There is simply no substitute for having a face-to-face meeting with the people who drive corporate decision making and this kind of fundamental research facilitates an unmatched understanding of the many issues facing companies in today’s complex markets.”
