Direct Access Partners Adds Distribution Platform


Direct Access Partners, an agency broker based in New York, has added a new distribution platform for third party research.  Its new Alternative Research Group (ARG) will focus on acquisitions, strategic partnerships, and exclusive relationships with highly differentiated research providers.

The initiative will be headed by Michael Dolan, who helped launch Instinet’s Independent Research department in 2000 before heading their Trading Sales and Research Sales in North America.  More recently, Dolan set up a third party distribution platform for NewEdge, a broker jointly owned by Société Générale and Crédit Agricole CIB.

The ARG initiative will be establishing distribution arrangements with research providers across various sectors and verticals.  Direct Access is seeking research firms with extensive industry experience coupled with primary research methodologies.  The group will target a number of verticals including technology, healthcare, retail, industrials and energy with the goal of expanding coverage to other sectors and industries based on client demand.

In return, ARG offers dedicated outsourced sales, marketing and trading coverage on an exclusive basis.

As we have noted in the past there are fewer distributors of alternative research now than three years ago, so Direct Access Partners’ initiative is timely and welcome.  Dolan is an experienced sales manager with extensive buy side contacts, and deep knowledge of the research industry, and his partnership with Direct Access is a positive for alternative research providers looking for improved distribution.
