Jefferies Welcomes Ex-Bear Stearns Analysts


New York – Earlier this week, Jefferies Group, a global investment bank and institutional securities firm focused on growing and mid-sized companies, announced it has opened its doors to 25 professionals from Bear Stearns. Almost one third of these new hires, who had worked at the deceased bank’s offices in Britain, are to beef up Jefferies’ research team.

The London-based subsidiary, Jefferies International Limited, welcomed the 25 professionals in its equity sales, trading, and research divisions. Nine out of the 25 professionals were allocated to research analysis or research sales. Among the new additions to the research division at Jefferies are Nick Bell, who will cover European media; and James Shuck, who will cover insurance industries.

Jefferies research covers U.S. & international equity, high yield, convertibles, investment grade fixed income, and post reorganization securities, among others. The research team includes more than 120 professionals who cover over 1,200 companies worldwide. The bank’s research analysts use quantitative and qualitative methods to build up their reports. Access to management is one of the bank’s offerings.
