New York, NY – According to a company press release, Charles Schwab Investment Management (CSIM), recently acquired the assets of San Francisco-based real estate research and consulting firm, Global Real Analytics, LLC. Global Real Analytics (GRA) is a major player in developing real estate indices and has built and implemented a wide range of real estate analytics.
GRA’s service evaluates REITs and real estate companies in over 50 countries. The firm is best known for its National Real Estate Index, though it also offers a Global Real Estate Index and a Commercial Real Estate Index as well. GRA leverages its proprietary databases and analytical tools to offer customized consulting services. It performs individual company valuations and portfolio reviews; it also advises on M&A and other corporate transactions. In addition to working with asset managers like Alliance Capital Management, the firm actively manages a number of real estate separate accounts that invest primarily in REITs and real estate operating companies (REOCs).
The primary reason CSIM decided to acquire GRA was to help Schwab develop and manage a new set of real estate investment products, including a new real estate offering called the Schwab Global Real Estate Fund.
